Conversions happen on your device
Every encoder, decoder, formatter, converter and cipher on CodeCipher runs as JavaScript in your browser. The text, JSON, tokens, images and files you use are not uploaded to us.
The “Ask AI” buttons
Two features — the AI explanation in the cipher identifier and on the home page, and “Fix it with AI” in the JSON tools — send the text in that box to our server, which passes it to an AI model through Vercel’s AI Gateway to generate a reply. This only happens when you press the button. We do not store the text or the reply, and we limit how many requests each visitor can make. Do not send passwords, private keys or personal data to the AI.
What we keep in your browser
To save you retyping, several tools remember your last input and settings (for example Morse speed or the Caesar shift) in your browser’s local storage, under keys starting with cc:. This never leaves your device. You can erase it at any time:
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal data; it records things like the page visited, referrer, country and device type in aggregate.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard server logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
